The Provider

The Dermatology Service is a new NHS service, available free to patients, commissioned by Worcestershire Primary Care Trust. The Service is run from two locations: Princess of Wales Hospital in Bromsgrove and the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.  

What does the service offer?

After visiting your Doctors Surgery your GP will refer you to the Assura Vertis service.  Your referral will be reviewed by a specialist clinician and you will be directed to the most appropriate clinician for treatment. In some cases this might be back to your own GP with a management plan on how to treat your condition.

If you do need to be treated by a specialist in the Dermatology Service, you will be given an appointment that is convenient to you at the most suitable location. For some patients this could mean investigations and consultations that may only require one appointment in the specialist clinic.

The Dermatology Service provides consultation, advice and treatment from a Consultant, specialist GP or specialist nurse. If a prescription is required the clinician will inform your GP of the medication required, this can normally be collected from your Doctors Surgery in four working days.  If your medical condition requires you to have a follow up appointment then this will also be offered at a time that is convenient to you.
