What is a GPCo?

The GPCo is a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) between the GP practices in the Redditch and Bromsgrove area and Assura.  It is one of a growing number across England, which are designed meet the Government aim of providing more secondary services in the community and out of a hospital setting.

Each GPCo consists of a 50:50 partnership between the GPs and Assura and are led by a Clinical Management Board (CMB) comprising of local GPs, a Business Director and one representative from Assura.

The GPCos are service provider companies, responsible for setting up, delivering and managing health care services. Our services are designed with the patient in mind. 

GPs are not paid to refer patients into services run by the GPCo. In line with Department of Health policy, patients are given a choice of at least 4 providers at the point of referral and should they choose to be referred into a service run by the GPCo, the referrer must declare that they have a commercial interest in the provider organisation.
